Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a meticulous account of the life and work of Victorian astronomer, Charles Pritchard. It begins by recounting his inauspicious and restrictive early life, before focusing on his famed tenure as a schoolmaster at Clapham. The author explains the effect of his upbringing and education on his methods of instruction and establishes the reforms made to the school curriculum under his guidance. The book also includes an analysis of the theological and astronomical work which shaped his later years at Oxford and solidified his legacy as a distinguished scientist and clergyman. Through the lens of Pritchard's own writings and the recollections of his pupils, the author presents a thorough examination of both the personal and academic life of a remarkable 19th-century scholar. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
