Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the results of excavations at El Kab, aiming to determine the origins of a lesser-known civilization whose remnants were discovered earlier at Naqada and Ballas. The author, an experienced archaeologist, meticulously catalogs the various types of burials, their contents, and their relationship to the Old Kingdom period. Through this, the book sheds light on the distinctive characteristics of this civilization, including their burial practices, material culture, and possible origins. The author concludes that these remains likely belong to a non-Egyptian, white race that invaded Egypt around the end of the Old Kingdom. The findings presented in this book offer valuable insights into the complex tapestry of ancient Egypt and the diverse groups that contributed to its rich history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating archaeological discoveries at Hierakonpolis, an ancient Egyptian site of immense historical significance. The author meticulously documents the excavation process, providing detailed descriptions of the various structures unearthed, including a circular revetment, an inclined revetment, stone walls, pavements, and a complex network of buildings. Through a careful analysis of the stratification of the site, the author reconstructs the chronological sequence of construction and occupation, shedding light on the evolution of Hierakonpolis from the prehistoric era through the Early Dynastic Period and into the New Kingdom. Particular attention is given to the discovery of a main deposit containing a wealth of artefacts, such as inscribed mace-heads, palettes, and statues, offering valuable insights into the artistic and religious practices of the early Egyptians. The book explores the challenges posed by the site's location within the Nile's inundation zone, which has resulted in the deterioration and displacement of many structures over time. Despite these obstacles, the author's meticulous approach and insightful interpretations provide a comprehensive understanding of the layout, function, and historical context of the Hierakonpolis temple complex and its surrounding town. A chapter on this inscription and others found in the temples is provided by the German scholar Wilhelm Spiegelberg (1870-1930). The second report, first published in 1896, discusses the archaeological work carried out at Naqada and Ballas by Petrie and James Edward Quibell (1867-1935), with a chapter by F. C. J. Spurrell (1842-1915) on the flint implements found at Naqada.
