Original quarter beige cloth with brown paper-covered boards, backstrip with paper title-…label. Backstrip a little toned and faintly marked. Upper outer corner of front board a little rubbed and lightly bumped, all other outer corners slightly so. No dust jacket. Half-title and title-page lightly spotted, occasional faint & sparse spotting elsewheres. Tinted top edge of text-block dust-marked, other edges lightly toned. GOOD+ copy.

Green paper over boards, engraved frontispiece, two title pages, one with an engraved illustration, "A New Edition, Revised and Corrected", 252 Pages. Paper on board…s is extremely worn such that printing on front and back is faded and nearly unreadable, spine is virtually gone, repaired with some sort of black tape with two holes cut in, one of which reveals the title on original spine, corners worn and rounded off, gift inspection written in ink on front paste down, previous owner name in pencil on front paste down, previous owner name embossed on front paste down, title page and frontis have a damp stain and foxing, interior pages have some random light foxing and other sorts of stains, damp stain in bottom gutter throughout a good portion of the text. Originally published in 1751, this story is early science fiction; Wilkins is shipwrecked in the Antarctic and reaches a land where the inhabitants - including the beautiful Youwarkee - can fly. Allman" Printed at the bottom. 2 Plates are in Vol. I an…d 2 in Vol. II (including the Frontispieces). Each Volume has it's own Title Page, Dated 1816. Contemporary Brown Half-Leather Binding with Marbled paper-covered Boards and Leather Corners. Gilt Title and Horizontal Divisions. Vol, I, 240 Pages. Vol. II, 240 Pages + 2 Pages of Publisher's adverts. 6 1/2" Tall, 410g. Very small bits of leather missing from spine ends. Edge wear especially at corners. Split to leather down left side of spine and a smaller split (1 1/2" long) on right side from the bottom). Rear hinge cracked, board still holding at the top. Attractive Illustrated Bookplate on Endpaper. Previous owner's name, antique inscription, at top of title page. Some small spots of light foxing, mainly marginal, on Plates. Area of scuffing on title page (not on the test) with an area of light even browning on title page. Only a very occasional spot of foxing or fingermark on text pages which are in very good, clean condition. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
