Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Near Fine. None (illustratore). A pleasing collection of forty-five volumes of the arts magazine Arete, founded by the English poet Craig Raine. Forty-five volumes of sixty total issues. With the signatures of the editor Craig Raine and British novelist Adam Thirlwell to the half-titles of issues four to fifteen. With the editors signature alone to the half-titles of issues sixteen to twenty-eight. All remaining issues are not signed. Arete was a tri-quarterly arts magazine which aimed to give detailed coverage of theatre, fiction, and poetry, while also serving as a platform for new writing in all genres. The first issue was released in 1999 with the last in 2020, closing due to problems arising from the pandemic and lockdown requirements. The magazine prided itself on high editorial standards and on close and accurate reading where others appear to have read superficially. Raine has described its editorial policy as to "publish anything we like" intending to explore the creation of taste, provide entertainment, and discover new writers. Contributions appeared from a wide range of authors, including Ian McEwan, Patrick Marber, Tom Stoppard, and Julian Barnes. With the promotion of new authors such as Adam Thirlwell, Jeremy Noel-Tod, Sam Gardiner, Hannah Sullivan, Peter Morris, James Womack, and Tom Welsford. Edited by Craig Anthony Raine, an English contemporary poet considered a pioneer of Martian poetry, a movement that expresses alienation with the world, society and objects. He was a fellow of New College, Oxford, from 1991 to 2010 and is now emeritus professor. This set contains issues four (2000) to nine (200); eleven (2003) to sixteen (2004); twenty (2006) to twenty-one (2006); twenty-four (2007) to twenty-eight (2009); thirty (2009) to thirty-nine (2012); forty-one (2013) to forty-four (2014); forty-six (2015) to fifty-one (2016); and fifty-five (2018) to sixty (2019). Issue sixty includes the original letter from the editor announcing the decision to close Arete with said issue, dated August 25th, 2020. In the original bright paper wraps. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities and light sunning to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine. signed by author. book.
