The author, a member of the Executive Council of Lower Canada, provides a detailed account of the complex and often contentious process of land allocation during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The book offers a glimpse into the challenges faced by early settlers and the role played by the British government in shaping the settlement of the colony.
