Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Child Labor in Massachusetts' is a comprehensive sociological and historical examination of the conditions and regulations surrounding child employment in the early 20th century. Written by Raymond G. Fuller and Mabel A. Strong, this work provides a detailed analysis of the industrial landscape in Massachusetts, a state at the forefront of the American industrial revolution and subsequent labor reform movements. The text explores the complex interplay between economic necessity, industrial demand, and the welfare of children. It delves into the specific laws governing child labor at the time, evaluating their effectiveness and identifying areas where the protection of young workers remained insufficient. Through statistical data and qualitative observation, the authors illustrate the impact of factory work and other forms of labor on the physical, educational, and social development of children. This volume serves as an essential resource for those interested in the history of social reform, labor rights, and the evolution of child welfare policies in the United States. It captures a pivotal moment in American history when the ethical implications of industrialization were being rigorously debated and legislated. By documenting the realities of the era, 'Child Labor in Massachusetts' remains a significant contribution to the study of labor history and social advocacy. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Soft cover. Condizione: Good. FULLER, Raymond G. What Shall the Coming Peace Mean to the Working Children of America. National Child Labor Committee, NYC, January 1919. 8"x 5", 7pp. Original wrappers. VG copy. "The war is over but child labor is not over." This addresses returning children from industry to school, combating those who feel the decision for work or school should be made in the home and not federally legislated, the need for a constitutional amendment to protect and organize safeguards for existing allowances for child labor, and that sort. Provenance: Library of Congress, with their rubber stamp on the rear wrapper and 10mm "LC" perforated stamp on front wrapper right bottom. [++] Child Labor Day, also known as National Child Labor Committee Day, was first celebrated on February 23, 1919, in the United States. The day was designated to bring awareness to the issue of child labor and to promote the importance of edu-cation and the well-being of children. At the time, child labor was a widespread problem in the United States, with many children being forced to work long hours in dangerous conditions, often for very low wages. Children worked in factories, mines, and agriculture, and their exploitation was considered a national crisis. The National Child Labor Committee was established in 1904 to combat the issue of child labor, and they worked tirelessly to advocate for child labor laws and to raise public awareness of the issue. Child Labor Day was one of their initiatives to bring attention to the problem. On the first Child Labor Day in 1919, the National Child Labor Committee organized a series of events across the country, includ-ing parades, rallies, and speeches. The day was celebrated in cities and towns across the country, and it helped to raise awareness of the issue of child labor.…
