"Soltanto nel 1829 apparve di nuovo a Venezia un atlante universale di un certo interesse, curato da Giuseppe Dembsher del quale non sono riuscito a rintraccuare alcuna notizia biografica. L'atlante fu eseguito aulla base delle carta di Adolf Stieler (1755-1836) e di Christian G. Reichard (1758-1837), autori della prima edizione del famoso Stieler Hand-Atlas, il più prestigioso atlante tedesco del XIX secolo. L'edizione veneziana, dal titolo Atlante Universale del Globo compreso in XVIII carte elegantemente intagliate in rame, è l'unica prodotta al di fuori deo confini tedeschi; anche quando verso la metà del secolo la casa editrice di Justus Perthes (1749-1816) decise di avviare edizioni in lingua straniera, non fu mai concesso ad altri di produrle. L'atlante di Dembsher fu pubblicato dalla tipografia di Alvisopoli, che aveva preso nome dalla città utopistica fondata nel 1800 da Alvise Mocenigo, un nobile veneziano che intendeva dare corpo al sogno illuministico di una libera città, una colonie d'hommes libres come la sognava Diderot, nella quale convivessero in armonia e finalizzate al progresso umano aziende industriali, agricole e attività attinenti alla sfera culturale. La tipografia di Alvisopoli, successivamente trasferita a Venezia, ebbe una produzione di tutto rispetto fino alla metà del secolo. Il titolo calligrafico dell'atlante, che non risulta nell'elenco delle opere pubblicate dalla tipografia, fu stampato in litografia da Deye mentre le 18 carte, incise su rame, erano acquerellate con grande finezza secondo lo stile dello Stieler's Hand-Atlas. Degna di nota è la presenza di una donna incisore, che con Marco Zuliani, firma alcune carte: Maria Minio Rocchetti, il cui nome va aggiunto alla non folta schiera di donne attive in campo cartografico."
