Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. ORIGINAL ISSUE. Contemporary half leather (spine and corners) and cloth, 4 ½ x 6 5/8 inches, 392 pp, no illustrations. Hardcover, very good. Splatter and drop marks on exterior, 1/32 inch chipping at foot of spine, a few approximately 1/16th inch nicks along it. Internally, some irregular tanning on a few adjoining leaves, apparently from a vanished laid-in botanical specimen, bit of foxing, lower corner of one leaf creased, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked and apparently never read. Sporadic underlining and marginalia throughout. No dustjacket. Gilt titles to spine are quite faded but legible. Boards are lightly bumped and rubbed to extremities. The foldout facsimile of a Master Mason's Certificate of the Grand Lodge of Ireland is present and in Fine condition. Cahill delves into Freemasonry's tenets, noting that Christianity and Freemasonry are irreconcilable, and the book overstates the Church's opposition.

Head of backstrip pulling away, pencil scribbles on free endpapers, one pamphlet shaved close losing one letter from each line on one leaf and two letters from each line on another, some browning of paper otherwise a very good copy. Includes all five of Cahill's letters to Lord John Russell, relative to his Lordship's epistle to the Bishop of Durham on Papal aggression and all five of Cahill's letters to the Right Hon. the Earl of Derby. Many of these addresses are very scarce, for example WorldCat locates only the first letter to the Earl of Derby and that in only one location.
