First edition. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Inscribed by the author to the half title, reading 'To J. W. Windsor Esq. with the writer's best respects. Bath' dated 1851. With a letter dated 1851 from the author pasted to the margin of the same page, to 'My Dear Sir', with the contents discussing the essays and the connection to Bath. Comprised of the miscellaneous essays by the Rev. Edward Mangin, which initially appeared in various periodicals, but are published here together for the first time. These essays cover a variety of topics, including Shakespeare, Lord Byron, George III, Roman Coins, as well as numerous essays surrounding Bath and the Bath Stage. With a previous owners inscription of Daniel de la Cherois to the title page, dated 1894. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, generally smart, with slight bumping to the extremities and spine. The odd mark to cloth. Spine is slightly cocked. Hinges are a little strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the odd handling mark.
