Featuring an illustrated half title and frontispiece portrait of Fletcher, born De La Flechere, of the La Flechere nobility. The Swiss-born Englishman was an Anglican vicar, and a prominent early Methodist theologian, and was considered a 'divine' for his body of influential work. Fletcher was married to Mary Bosanquet - one of the first woman preachers authorised by John Wesley. In the Cottage Library publication series. undated, dated approximately from the appendix. Bound in original brown cloth. Externally, very smart. Mild shelf wear. Previous owner's name and address stamp to rear paste down.
