A very scarce title, with no records on Jisc. The full title of this biographical work is 'The Life of The Rev. John. W. De La Flechere: Compiled from The Narratives of the Rev. Mr. Wesley; The Biographical Notes of the Rev. Mr. Gilpin; From His Own Letters; and Other Authentic Documents: Many of Which were Never Before Published'. Featuring an illustrated half title and frontispiece portrait of Fletcher, born De La Flechere, of the La Flechere nobility. The Swiss-born Englishman was an Anglican vicar, and a prominent early Methodist theologian, and was considered a 'divine' for his body of influential work. Fletcher was married to Mary Bosanquet - one of the first woman preachers authorised by John Wesley. In the Cottage Library publication series. undated, dated approximately from the appendix. Bound in original brown cloth. Externally, very smart. Mild shelf wear. Previous owner's name and address stamp to rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound, with mild strain between title and contents pages. Pages generally bright and clean, with the odd very mild handling mark. The odd handling mark to text block edges. Corners are bumped and peeled and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Notable splits to spine joints; lower section of spine leather detaching. With heavy surface wear to edges and moderate scratches and ink staining overall.
