"First printing 1964" statement to the copyright page, $3.50 to the jacket's flap. The third of four Colonel Kim Locke mysteries by Crossen under pseudonym. Crossen launched the CIA operative Locke series under his own name with THE TORTURED PATH and THE BIG DIVE. In this entry the secret CIA attached man goes to Cuba where a Castro executioner is called The Gentle Assassin. A nicely presentable vintage collectible. Some age-toning to the upper and lower shelf-edges, else tight and near fine in brick-red linen over blue-threaded white boards with silver titles to the spine; in a very good dust jacket with art by Burt Goldblatt, with short shelf-edge tears, slight rubbing to the front spine fold, a chip to the upper edge of the rear panel, and small creases to the upper edge of the front panel; original printed $3.50 price still intact to the front inner flap. The jacket will be placed in a clear, removable protective sleeve, after photographing for this entry.
