Many contributions were specially written for the series, and are the first publication in the UK. Vol. 13 onwards are illustrated, both in photogravure and colour, and 27-30 also have colour illustrations - artists include Ceri Richards, Edward Burra, Keith Vaughan, Graham Sutherland et al. ***All the volumes are complete in their original thin card covers. The covers are generally clean, with inevitable rubbing and creasing commensurate with age and handling. The wartime issues in particular are very fragile, but there is no significant damage, although a couple of the early numbers have front cover detached but present, and a few numbers have some bumping and creasing to the page block. Some of the numbers have previous ownership inscriptions, but most do not. Paper stock tanned as usual in the earlier numbers due to the wartime paper stock used - lighter tanning in the later issues with better paper stock. Condizione: Near Fine. First Edition, numbered 466/5,000 limited run (please note this number is not the same as one depicted in accompanying photo from an identical copy). This edition is signed by Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones), George Clapton, Adam Cooper, Sandy Lieberson, Anita Pallenberg, Derek Taylor, Bill Wyman, Peter Blake, Allen Jones, Terry Doran, Stash Klossowski, and Colin Self. The edition typically came with 368pp. but this edition is missing all pages after 352 (16 missing pages), presumably due to a printing error. This error, along with the slight wear, has been reflected in the pricing. The book is in Near Fine condition, with the exception of a small area between the flyleaf and title page, where remnants of the publisher's adhesive suggest that these two pages were once firmly bound together. Accompanied by the original handmade silkscreen box with a sliding blind revealing a photograph unique to each copy (this one is of a young Mick Jagger). This silkscreen box has damage to the bottom portion: there is some tearing to the upper left corner and to the lower left corner along with some very minor scuffing and edge-wear.
