Riggauer" handschr…iftl. auf dem Einband. - Aus dem Text: Die Lage Baierns brachte bereits im frühen Mittelalter die Aufgabe mit sich den grossen Handel zwischen dem Süden und Südosten Europas einerseits und dem Norden, insbesondere Nordosten, anderseits zu vermitteln. Diese Aufgabe bedingte eine gewisse Selbständigkeit und Unabhängigkeit des bairischen Münzwesens von der übrigen Reichsmünze, wenn letztere nicht wohl in Einklang zu bringen war mit der Hauptmünze der Länder, mit denen man im steten Verkehr war. Darauf beruht die eigene Rechnungsart in Baiern und auch in Oesterreich, die von der durch Karl den Grossen für alle deutschen Stämme eingeführten wesentlich abwich. Das Pfund von 367,2 gr. zu 240 Pfenningen wurde nämlich in Baiern nicht wie im übrigen Reich in 20 Schillinge zu 12 Pfenningen, sondern in 8 Schillinge zu 30 Pfenningen getheilt. Der bairische Schilling hiess von der grösseren Zahl von Pfenningen, die er enthielt, der lange Schilling, solidus longus, dem fränkischen kurzen Schilling, solidus brevis, gegenüber. Dieser lange Schilling entsprach bei dem damaligen Verhältniss der Münzmetalle von 1 : 10 genau dem Werth eines byzantinischen Goldsolidus, der Haupthandelsmünze der unteren Donauländer. - Wiki: Hans Riggauer (18491907), deutscher Numismatiker - Weiterer Inhalt (S. 153-172): Oeffentliche Sitzung zur Feier des 141.
