Smith (1920-1999) was a botanist, librarian, author, and collector of historical materials. Most of his collection comprised pamphlets, ephemera, and other materials on Santa Barbara, but there is also material relating to San Luis Obispo and Ventura. This catalog lists the approximately 1,700 items in Smith's collection that span the years from 1861 to 1940. Some of the listings include more than one item, so there are 636 listings in total.
