In 14 dramatic plans, the author shows how carefully selected stone, cut and arranged by a skilled stonemason, can be evocatively set within flower borders, and feature beds, shaped pools and garden seats of oval, corner or saddle stone design. Suitable plants, preferably natural to the variety of rock are suggested throughout, the formality of a stone garden ideally broken by the irregularity of its planting (p10). Occasional v faint foxing, internally clean condition.
