Four of the notebooks contain notes taken while Adamson was a student of mining at Wigan and District Mining and Technical College in 1943-44. The notes and diagrams on mining law, machinery and safety are in a neat hand and obviously the work of a conscientious student. Rowland Adamson graduated with a first class degree and pursued a sucessful career in mining inspection. The other three notebooks date from 1944-1950. A shorthand notebook appears to contain records of mining accidents and injuries. A duplicate book entitled 'Bevin Boys 1944' contains copies of letters written to other managers, including one to Charles Aspinall appointing him to take J Jones under his care in compliance with the Emergency Powers (Defence). A fascinating collection. Very Good Please contact Christian White Rare Books Ltd for more information or images of this item.
