Dark olive cloth, gilt stamping to spine and front board remains bright, single slender vertical strips of black tape residue at top and bottom edges of each board with some residue at spine heel too. Edges and endpapers toned and foxed; surface peeling to front pastedown; slender black tape residue on rear endpapers; lending library's three-line ink notation regarding prices at top right corner of front free endpaper recto; some staining and slight foxing to early pages with closed 3cm tear at fore-edge margin of pages 11-12. Interior text leaves overall remain quite clean. Mild sag to the text block but binding is firm. The highly lauded LIE DOWN IN DARKNESS was William Styron's first novel published at just the youthful age of 26.
