Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 239 pages. Retrospective collection of selected work by various contributors, which were first published by Zero Press. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent printings. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. This is an Advance Promotional Copy. Given to a select few by the publisher and editor, Themistocles Hoetis. There is no ISBN. The First Edition is now rare. Without DJ, as issued. Presents, in an austerely elegant hardcover format, "Zero Anthology No. 8 of Literature And Art". The kind of anthology that regaled readers and collectors for a dazzling spell during the 20th century. Alas, it seems so long ago: There is nothing, no record online about Zero Press, when it was active and when it eventually ceased to exist. Nevertheless, the present contributors of the anthology are a Who's Who of 20th century literature: Samuel Beckett, Paul Bowles, Federico Garcia Lorca, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Gore Vidal, among others. Gore Vidal's contribution, "A Moment of Green Laurel", precipitated a controversy-of-sorts: The Twilight Zone episode "Walking Distance", where a burned-out executive travels back in time to his childhood town and encounters his younger self, is unmistakably and almost entirely stolen by Rod Serling from "A Moment of Green Laurel" without giving credit to Vidal to whom credit was due. This omission helped ensure that "A Moment of Green Laurel" would remain in print. It appears in "A Thirsty Evil: Seven Short Stories", first published by Zero Press in 1956, and has been reissued several times ever since. An absolute "must-have" title for Zero Press and Gore Vidal collectors. This Advance Promotional Copy is very prominently and beautifully signed in blue ink-pen on his Contribution by Gore Vidal. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a great collection. This is one of few such Vidal-signed copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and is in fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A scarce signed copy thus. Some of the greatest writers of the 20th century. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER GORE VIDAL TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). Signed by Author(s).…
