SANGUINETTI - BREVE HISTORIA DEL COLEGIO NACIONAL DE BUENOS AIRES - ASOCIACIÓN COOPERADORA "AMADEO JACQUES" - 1963 Primera edición de esta síntesis histórica dedicada a una de las instituciones educativas más influyentes de la Argentina. Horacio J. Sanguinetti reconstruye aquí las distintas etapas del Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, desde sus antecedentes coloniales hasta su consolidación como institución central de la enseñanza secundaria argentina. Publicada precisamente en 1963, año del centenario de la organización del Colegio Nacional bajo la presidencia de Bartolomé Mitre, la obra posee un carácter simultáneamente histórico y conmemorativo. La edición estuvo a cargo de la Asociación Cooperadora "Amadeo Jacques", y constituye la primera de las tres ediciones que tendría posteriormente el libro. Sanguinetti presta especial atención a la continuidad histórica del establecimiento, sus edificios, sus autoridades, profesores, alumnos y tradiciones académicas. A través de esa historia aparecen inevitablemente algunos de los grandes nombres de la educación y la cultura argentina, particularmente Amadeo Jacques, cuya labor pedagógica se volvió inseparable de la memoria institucional del Colegio. El volumen posee además una importante dimensión documental gracias a sus fotografías históricas. Las imágenes del antiguo edificio, los salones y espacios interiores permiten reconstruir visualmente ámbitos que forman parte de la mitología del Colegio. Entre ellas resulta especialmente curiosa la fotografía dedicada al llamado "rincón de los ecos", un fenómeno acústico observado en la antigua sede. La obra incorpora además un poema de Baldomero Fernández Moreno, reforzando la relación entre historia institucional y memoria literaria. El propio Fernández Moreno había sido alumno del Colegio, al igual que numerosas figuras centrales de la política, la ciencia y las letras argentinas.
