Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the lives and reigns of each bishop of Teruel, a small city and diocese in Aragon, Spain. Beginning with the mid-13th-century elevation of Teruel's main church to cathedral status, this book follows each bishop in turn as they usher their flock through political strife, religious upheaval, and community building. The reader will follow the lives of these men as they grapple with the complexities of their time and their faith, offering insights into the role of the Church in medieval and early modern Spain. From the first Bishop, Juan Pà rez de Artieda, who was transferred to Teruel from the position of Bishop of Jaca shortly after the cathedral's establishment, to the last Bishop, Juan Cebrián, who governed Teruel from 1858 until his death in 1868, this book examines each bishopâs accomplishments, trials, and tribulations. Amidst their collective history, the author uncovers the challenges and triumphs of the Church in Spain and explores the intricate relationship between spiritual and secular power. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
