Cyril Satorsky (illustratore). The Householder by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala is the author's acclaimed early novel, first published in 1960, offering a perceptive and often gently humorous portrait of middle-class life in post-independence India. He worked as an artist and designer in London and at the University of Texas in Austin. He taught at Leicester University, Hammersmith College of Art, Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts and at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as chairman of the Department of Visual Communication.
