Vorderer Vorsatz fehlt, Seite 18 mit 5 cm Einriss. Davon abgesehen von sehr guter Erhaltung. - Einzige Ausgabe der ersten Hauptschrift ber die Transfusion des Blutes seit dem 17. Jahrhundert. - "Paul S[cheel], Arzt und Naturforscher, am 28. Februar 1773 in Itzehoe (Holstein) geboren, studirte zuerst in Gttingen, dann in Kopenhagen, besonders als Schler von Mathias Saxtorph, absolvirte hierselbst 1796 die Prfung als Arzt, machte darauf eine lngere Studienreise und erwarb nach seiner Rckkehr 1798 zu Kopenhagen mit der Abhandlung: 'De liquore amnii asperae arteriae foetuum humanorum, cui adduntur quaedam generaliora de liquore amnii' die medicinische Doctorwrde. Er lie§ sich ebendaselbst als Arzt nieder, erhielt 1801 den Titel Hofmedicus, wurde 1802 zum Stadtphysicus, sowie zum Professor der Geburtshlse und Director der Gebranstalt ernannt. Bald nachher erfolgte auch die Ernennung zum Mitglied des Gesundheitscollegiums. Scheel's schwchlicher Krperbau zusammen mit einer unermdlich praktischen Thtigkeit, die er besonders als Geburtshelfer entfaltete, hatten zur Folge, da§ S. schon im Alter von 38 Jahren, am 17. Juni 1811, starb, nachdem er vorher noch einen an ihn ergangenen Ruf nach Kiel abgelehnt hatte" (ADB 30 (1890), S. 665-666 [Online-Version]). Sprache: de 256 Gramm.
