An Kapellmeister Weissheimer: Leider muß ich Ihnen die Mitteilung zu gehen lassen, daß ich Ihre Oper bereits wieder vom Repertoir[e] absetzen mußte. Namentlich ist es das Sujet der Oper, welches die Sache scheiterte [!]. Bei der zweiten Aufführung waren daher nur 20 Personen im Theater. Schade um Ihre Mühe, welche Sie dem schauderhaften Text angedeihen ließen! Schade um drei Monate verlorene Zeit, welche ich brauchte um das Werk einzustudi[e]ren [.]". II. 1885). Albert Schirmer war als Schauspieler in Elbing, Glogau, Basel, Düsseldorf und Stettin engagiert, leitete das Stettiner Stadt-Theater und übernahm 1888 die Direktion des Theaters in Mainz. Wendelin Weissheimer, ein Lieblingsschüler Franz Liszts und Freund und Gönner Richard Wagners der für ihn den Textentwurf einer Oper namens Wieland der Schmied" geschrieben, ihn vor der Vertonung aber wieder zurückgezogen hatte , war u. a. als Kapellmeister in Augsburg, an der Krolloper in Berlin und in Düsseldorf tätig. 1893 zog er sich vorübergehend von seiner Bühnentätigkeit zurück um sich der Schriftstellerei zu widmen; seine 1898 erschienenen Erlebnisse mit Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt und vielen anderen Zeitgenossen" erfuhren bereits im selben Jahr eine zweite Auflage. Seine Laufbahn beschloß er als Dirigent von Massenchören auf sozialdemokratischen Parteitagen. August Schricker war als Geistlicher in Bayern und hernach als Redakteur der Schwäbischen Volkszeitung" tätig, gründete die Sonntagsblätter der deutschen Partei" und gab die illustrierte Wochenschrift Kriegszeitung" heraus; zudem war Schricker Senatssekretär der Universität Straßburg. Auf Briefpapier mit gedr. Briefkopf des Stettiner Stadt-Theaters und mit alten, unbed. Montagespuren sowie kl. Einr. am unteren Blattrand.
