Browning to the page edges with a little spotting to the top edges. The endpapers are lightly browned with the trace of a price in pe…ncil and two liight stains to the front free endpaper. Light spotting to the rear free endpaper. The pages are a little browned but otherwise unmarked. The price-clipped jacket has a two inch long piece missing from the centre of the spine and another one inch piece missing at the top. The front panel has a three inch closed tear at the top and another one inch tear at the top right corner and there is some chipping and heavy creases in this area. Half-inch closed tear to the top edge of the rear panel which also has some surface wear and browning. Illustrated in black and white with no credit given to the illustrator. First printing.

The price-clipped jacket has a small chip out of the bottom left corner of the front panel with quarter inch tears at the bottom right corner of the front panel and the top left corner of the rear panel. There is a little chipping to the corners, some surface and edge wear and quite a bit of browning to the reverse. Jacket and interior illustrations by Norman Battershill. First printing.
