Golia fu compagno di studi di Guido Gozzano, di cui divenne amico, e contemporaneamente comincio' a disegnare. Nel 1913 fondo' la rivista 'Numero' insieme a Nino Caimi, Dino Segre (in arte Pitigrilli), e al disegnatore Giovanni Manca.
