There is a small dent to the front board edge as well as very slightly bumped corner at the top. Jacket flap price $35 is unclipped. The inside of the dust jacket front has a light stain associated with moisture exposure. There is a 2 ¼ inch light stain on the top page edges near the spine that caused light page rippling to the first 50 pages. There is no stain on the pages from the moisture exposure and the rippling effect becomes progressively less until it is unnoticeable after the 50th page. This effect is no larger than 2 inches across and 1 ½ inches down. Beyond this flaw the pages are white, tight, and free of any marks. Some toning and foxing along edges; past owner's personal ink stamps present with three on top edge and one on bottom edge as well as on front free endpaper and both rear endpapers; large personal bookplate of different owner on front pastedown which happens to obscure another bookplate which lies immediately underneath it. Front and rear free endpapers toned with mild foxing on several preliminary and terminal leaves; minimal foxing on interior leaves which are, overall, quite clean. Two top corners of interior leaves creased from past fold-downs. A good+ copy of an uncommon book. First published in 1907, Selous' account of big game hunting in northwestern Canada remains a highly regarded book in which and the author recounts his Yukon Territory adventures while hunting in the area of the North Fork of the Macmillan River in 1904 and in the area of Macmillan South Fork in 1906.

On Jan 4 1917 at the age of 65 he was killed fighting the Germans in East Africa. The octavo album is bound in green cloth and labeled "Press Cuttings" on the spine. Laid in is an a.l.s. ( hand written letter) from Selous to Mr Coplles Dec 31st 1900. In the letter Selous tells the reader that he doesn't want to discuss his hunting trip in Newfoundland because it was sopoor. "only saw one good Stag". "The westher was nearly always bad and very few of my photographs came out". "I now know where to go."
