Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. A near fine copy, in a near fine dust jacket. The striking purple cloth binding is clean and unworn, with strong red to the spine. Everything is tight and square, with unbumped corners. Just a narrow band of fading to the spine bottom. The contents are clean and bright with only a neat ownership name and date to the ffep and a small bookplate to the front pastedown. Otherwise no markings of any kind. The lovely unclipped dust jacket (2/6 net) is clean and complete, with just the slightest of edgewear and rubbing, and a small dampstain to the spine. It has been neatly and invisibly reinforced from behind with clear tape, and is now protected in a removable mylar cover. From the author's preface: "This book is based upon letters written during a period of seventeen years spent in a mission school in Bantu Africa. It tells of an attempt to conserve all that is true and good in the old life and to build upon it".
