Contains 57 road maps such as would have been distributed at gas stations, with index tabs, encompassing the continental United States and Canada (and one of Mexico). Many of the maps cover groups of states, but among the maps are many of cities and their vicinities. This atlas was published and issued by Shell, not an individual's compilation of maps acquired in travels. There is no title page. The date is derived from identification codes on many of the maps. It provides a concise and complete view of the nation's road system on the eve of the construction of the Interstate Highway System. …
