Everett Shinn was a member of the Ashcan School of Artists and also a prestigious colony of artists in Westport, Connecticut. He began as a Philadelphia newspaper illustrator with his vibrant imagery demonstrating a rare iconic movement or motion just before photography became widely utilized. His best effectively captured city life in the first years of the twentieth century, in both a realist and romantic spirit.
