Hill was a soldier, author, and epicure. Rebacked in a quarter cloth binding, with the original paper boards. Externally, boards are a little rubbed and discoloured. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a little loss of paper to the extremities. Minor marks to the boards. Front hinge is strained. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots, spotting heavier to the plates. Good.
