Very clean set of the first and second books of reports from Thomas Siderfin, Esq., which includes cases from 1657 up through the first ten years after the Restoration of the monarchy, 1670. From the historic law library of Maurice E. Locke (1861-1919) of Dallas, TX. Locke, a bibliophile in addition to his trade, established his practice in 1891 and built up one of the largest privately owned law libraries west of the Mississippi during the early decades of 20th century. Locke was an original trustee of the Dallas Public Library, serving as president of the board from 1910-1919 and was instrumental in the building of the Oak Cliff Library, securing funds from Andrew Carnegie. Oak Cliff which opened in 1914, later became the first branch of the Dallas Public Library. Folio, 31x20cm, [4], 467, [83]pp and [8], 179, [11]pp. To the reader sections and licence-to-print leaves for each publication in English, the remainder of each in French. Law buckram, red and black spine labels lettered in gilt, original endpapers present. Nearly fine, clean copy with wide margins and scattered light foxing. Ownership stamp of Maurice E.
