Spine of jacket sunned but words still legible. A foundation volume for any sporting library. A novel with the fine qualities of both Trollope and Jeffries, yet is wholly original. The author depicts the quiet pre-war English life of fox-cover, countryside and drawing room with grace and sincerity.

Generally a generally handsome VG+ clean tightly bound copy. Ex Libris Charles Taylor Esq. with his contemporary fine engraved bookplate to upper pastedown together with Sigfried Sassoon's fine monogram bookplate to corner of upper pastedown. Also contains a loosely inserted engraved portrait of William Collins at the age of 14 from a separate work. William Collins (1721 1759) was an English poet. Second in influence only to Thomas Gray, he was an important poet of the middle decades of the 18th century. His lyrical odes mark a progression from the Augustan poetry of Alexander Pope's generation and towards the imaginative ideal of the Romantic era.
