(8262) L'opera di Silhon si articolò in tre parti distinte, apparse a Parigi negli anni 1631, 1643 e 1661. La prima edizione elzeviriana (solo le due prime parti) apparve nel 1639, ristampata poi nel 1641 e nel l648. La presente edizione è descritta dal Willems, n. 1995, tra gli annessi alle edizioni elzeviriane, e uscì dai torchi di Foppens a Bruxelles. A questa edizione andava sovente annesso il terzo volume De la certitudes des connoissances humaines, di carattere più prettamente filosofico, apparso a Parigi nel 1661, che veniva tuttavia venduto separatamente. Il testo fornisce un interessante insieme di regole di governo dello stato e di conduzione della politica "moderna" fuori dei canoni invecchiati del "tacitismo" di maniera, ed ebbe una vasta diffusione del XVII secolo, con alcuni capitoli interessanti anche per il governo dell'economia.
