The pictorial dust jacket is unclipped. It is a little grubby with small closed tears at folds. There are three small ink stamps, one on the top of the front dust jacket, one at top of front end paper and one at top of free page. The stamp is of 'PELEUS' and measure approx 20mm x 5mm. I suspect that the book may have been in the library on board the Blue Line ship 'Peleus', which plied the Far East and Australian routes in the 1950s and 60s. Gleaned by the author from numerous letters, this scarce book provides much first-hand information concerning the history of shipping and commerce in the Far East during the early years of Queen Victoria's reign. Illustrated with black and white plates, and maps of Far East forming end papers.…
