First edition. xi, 63pp. Sir William Young Darling (1885-1962) was the Unionist Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons for the Edinburgh South constituency from 1945 to 1957. He published many works, both anonymously and under his own name, including The Private Papers of a Bankrupt Bookseller. The present book is a collection of 55 short poems many to do with politics and Westminster. The book is bound in the original dark blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with a little light foxing on the endpapers and a few foxing marks on the fore edge of the text block. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and some damp spotting. The spine is faded and the top of the spine is lightly bumped.
