There are two portrait images of a man and woman and of people and places in Ghanea, Voiliokes. Pollyrrhonia, and Castelli. Black and white sketches. Sluis's own Sketch book. PIET SLUIS was born in Zwolle, Holland in 1929. He came to Ireland in 1956. He is regarded by many as Ireland's representative of the COBRA movement. This movement entailed an effort to offer a European alternative to New York's abstract expressionist art of the 1950's. Sluis is regarded as having brought the influence of this post war Dutch movement to Ireland. He began to make a mark in Dublin art galleries in the 1960's - a period when he pursued his interest in graphic art, typography & calligraphy. His other passion was jazz music. He has exhibited at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, the Exhibition of Living Artists, The Exhibition of Dutch Contemporary Art in Ireland. In 1968 he had a one-man show in the Project Art Gallery. He has also exhibited at the Bank of Ireland Exhibition Centre, Caldwell Galleries, Oisin Galleryand others. He has undertaken commercial and graphic art work for The Irish Heart Foundation, GPA, Guinness, National Dairy Council, ESB, RTE and many others.After the death of his wife he lost some of his will to live and lived a rather bohemian existence in and around Blackrock, Co. Dublin up to his death in 2008. Signed by ARTIST.

    No Binding. Condizione: Good. The pictures are as follows: An oil on board of a woman standing with her hands together in a seeming sylvan setting. 40 x 18.5 cms. (16 x 7 inches approx.); Watercolours and other media consist of Six multi coloured square panels on board measuring circa 22 x 22 or 24 x 24 cms. (8.5 x 8.5 or 9 x 9 inches); an Abstract multicoloured watercolour with a touch of oils. 74 x 55 cms.approx. Dated 1965; A geometric, almost spiral semi circular design (16 x 16 inches approx) in the style of Damien Hirst pasted on light board measuring 86.4 x 50.8 cms approx.(34 x 20.5 inches); Half man half bull with what appears to be a large fish on its back within a circular wreath design and auto routes and traffic signs on either side on the periphery 63 x 50 cms. (25.25 x 20 inches). Dated 1976; Two watercolours, one on board and another on paper measuring 40.5 x 29.5 cms. (16.5 x 11.75 inches approx.). The picture on board is a semi abstract still life and the the one on paper is of woman in a hat pointed in rear with a piece of a plant in her hand; 4 ink drawings include an image of a man seated on a chair playing the saxaphone. His trousers are white and the rest of his attire and the saxaphone are all coloured; a semi abstract image of two men playing musical instruments. Dated 1964; Two men are seated listening to a man playing the cello. Two of the people in the image are caricatures; A boy seated in front of a tree in the form of a man is playing a flute like instrument; The final item in the collection is a towel sized piece of pure Irish linen with a Fionn Mac Cumhaill theme promoting Guinness Stout.
