Original brochure, stapled. Condizione: Gut. Unpaginated [24 p.], fig. A very good and clean copy. - Bilingual English und Deutsch. - ARK2000 - An experimental work. An introduction by Sacha Craddock. The name of an individual animal, bird, insect, or minibeast has been selected from a list of over 200 hundred species and distributed or allocated to over two hundred artists in Berlin, London and elsewhere. The actual accumulative result at Dilston Grove, a former church, is a range of reaction, creation and parallel existence. There is picture book imagery, national geographic realism, shorthand graphic, wilful expressionism, simple pun and wordplay. The objects, paintings, drawings, and performances take on the physical embodiment of the subject in a strange manner and the natural tendency to anthropomorphise is thoroughly revealed. Some artists wondered why such and such an animal or bird had been allocated to them in the first place, what does it say about me? The animals, birds and bugs were transported from Berlin to London en masse, on hoof, over land in a lorry. Somehow the vision of so many sculptural and pictorial realities being moved together turns everything into a body. Even the slightest conceptual trick becomes three-dimensional in the face of such role play. Material has been found, transformed and turned into something else and yet some things are hardly transformed at all, remaining close to the idea of a single moving mammal or insect. A literal approach takes something very one to one, straight through its relation to the rest of the world, directly to an almost fearsome questioning of the necessary level of recognition. / ARK2000 - An experimental work.
