Written by an ichthyologist (fish expert) at the Australian Museum. The paintings are perfect in every detail, from the beautiful colours to the intricate structure of each fish. This little book is full of fish knowledge and makes fascinating reading for any age. Solvol is an Australian soap brand (advert rear cover). (No date, about 1942.).

White Breasted Robin (Eopsaltria Georgiana) on eucalypt branch, original watercolour on paper, 216 x 140mm, signed. Fine condition. Mary Soady exhibited at the 24th annual exhibition of the Society of Women Painters in Sydney, 1934. In 1941 Soady was a finalist in the Sir John Sulman Prize, part of the Archibald Prize. This watercolour of the White Breasted Robin was possibly a submission for the Sovol Bird Book, which Neville Cayley was to illustrate in 1940. Instead Soady was chosen to illustrate the Solvol Fish Book that same year.
