Lacey, with the author's best wishes - Nicholas Snowden New York City, December 9, 1933." Snowden served as a spy for the Austrian empire during the First World War, and worked mostly in Russia and then in Hungary after the Russian revolution. His novel recounts his stint as a POW in Russia, his torture at the hands of the Hungarian authorities, and his escape to Italy. A blindstamp from a private owner on the title page, toning on the pastedowns; jacket with moderate edge wear and a crease on the rear flap.
