An incomplete first issue of 1878. Book size - 8.25 x 5.5 inches, pp. 116 + 10 (ads) + small ad sheet bound in, but this copy lacks the original front cover and 7 leaves - 15/16, 39/40, 47/48, 63/64, 69/70, 75/76, 97/98 . Recent re-bind . Contents - first two pages (adverts) quite soiled with edges tattered and a corner loss on the first page, the remainder of the textblock is quite clean with no inscriptions and no foxing, some page corner with small creases, a few of the images show the odd area of hand colouring (amateur but neatly done) and a few pages show a thin line of reinforcing paper at the joints (from the recent re-bind) , the small ad sheet bound in is for ' Ally Sloper's Summer Number ' , new plain endpapers, binding firm ; pale coloured cloth spine with paper covered boards ; the front cover is a copy of the title page and on the back cover is a copy of the original ; boards edges all in good condition, back is darkened, spine cloth is complete and clean, front a little dusty with a few marks. Jean Kennedy Smith was the youngest daughter of Joe and Rose Kennedy and the sister of President John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. She was the Ambassador to Ireland, where she was instrumental in the Northern Ireland peace process during the Clinton administration. She founded the organization, Very Special Arts, which allows people with disabilities to engage in the arts. She was the last sibling of President John F. Kennedy to die when she passed away in 2020. Signed.
