Dans les années 1920, Arie Speelman, un fervent chrétien hollandais, commanda à l'atelier la reproduction de quelque 1 200 plaques de verre colorées à la main - un travail titanesque réalisé au pinceau à un seul poil pour les décors les plus fins. Le tourisme de masse n'existait pas encore et à son retour en Hollande, Arie Speelman se mit à organiser des soirées Palestine dans tout le pays, armé de son projecteur et de ses plaques de verre, pour faire partager son amour de la région.
