Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. HAND SIGNED, BOLDLY, no lesser personal inscription, by Stanley Stellar. 1992 First Edition An essential and an important document of urban queer life on the West Side : playful nostalgic sexy, the NYC hudson piers, westside village, chelsea street photography / lgbtq history. Stanley Stellar has been documenting queer life and the visual culture of men in New York City since the 1969 Stonewall Riots. He says of his work and inspiration, "At that time, there was almost no meaningful recorded imagery of us, or the physical culture and style of who men are, here in my New York City world. I was moved to record it for myself, and for all of us." Stellar Men has found it's place as an example of photography and art history. With such an extensive selection of male photography books to choose, it is rare to find one that is a true pleasure to look at time and time again. Stanley Stellar has combined great skill and a host of subjects to produce a book that is truly unique. There are photographs ranging from the beauty of the male form to homo-eroticism. This book has something to offer every artistic eye. Stanley, who was living in Tribeca, could easily walk up to the piers from his home, and spend the day outdoors. "I never left the house without my camera and film," he says. "We would lie on a big slab of cement in the sun. Being a young gay artist, you could be there on a Thursday afternoon at four o'clock, bring a bottle of seltzer or beer, a transistor radio and hang out with your friends. The Circle Line would cruise around Manhattan. We'd wave to them, and they'd wave back. It was our world.". Signed by Author(s).
