Seit seiner Wiederentdeckung und erstmaligen Publikation vor 200 Jahren (1818) kann der gotische Fassadenriss des Kölner Domes, der als Planungsgrundlage des Domausbaus im 19. Jahrhundert diente, als die wohl berühmteste Architekturzeichnung der Gotik im deutschen Sprachraum gelten. Die…Forschung sah sich jedoch über das gesamte 20. Jahrhundert mit dem Widerspruch konfrontiert, der in der archäologisch begründeten Datierung des Baubeginns der Westfassade nach 1350 und der angenommenen sehr viel früheren Entstehung der ihrer Ausführung zugrundeliegenden Zeichnung spätestens um 1280 lag. Der derzeit führende Spezialist für mittelalterliche Bauzeichnungen Johann Josef Böker kann erstmals auf Basis einer detaillierten Stilanalyse nachweisen, dass auch die Zeichnung in die 2. Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts zu datieren und somit tatsächlich im Zusammenhang mit den unmittelbaren Vorbereitungen des Baus entstanden ist. Damit ergibt sich zugleich als weitere neue Erkenntnis eine Zuschreibung des Risses an den wohl wichtigsten Kölner Dombaumeister des ausgehenden Mittelalters, Michael von Savoyen. Sprache: Deutsch.

The nineteenth century declared war on the absolute monarchical state and the mechanistic paradigm. The critique of a 'mechanical' application of law and the distorted image of the 'subsumption automaton' have stood for criticism of judging that, removed from the demands of 'everyday life,' adheres to predefined concepts and dispenses with reflection on law and justice. Rudolf Jhering's 'judgment machine,' Hermann Kantorowicz's 'thinking machine,' or Max Weber's 'paragraph automaton' can be seen as pejorative images of a machine into which 'one throws the files at the top, together with costs and fees, so that it spits out the judgment at the bottom, along with the more or less valid reasons.'
