Aggiungi al carrelloThree volumes, second edition of the first volume and first editions of the other two. Large 8vo. Volume II in the original green cloth boards with a red band incorporating the regimental badge in gilt to the upper cover, the boards of the other two more recently bound on the same design and all three volumes rebacked in gilt lettered dark green and red calf to style, the front flyleaf of volume I inscribed by Wyndham B. Shakespear, son of the author, "To my oldest friends Mrs Lewis Hall and her daughter Bee Campbell. Oct: 1956" with clover leaf taped adjacent, the front free endpaper of volume III featuring the inscription of Capt. Edward David Percival Brown, an officer of the regiment, with his service number, numerous pieces of related ephemera loosely inserted. Numerous plates, mostly in black and white, plus many plans and maps, some in colour and often folding. An interesting and attractive set. The ephemera includes several letters, one from a soldier in the aftermath of V.E. Day, writing on regimental headed paper to a family member in Britain - remarking that the news had been "received without a lot of celebration" as he and his comrades still serving in Asia realised "that the job [was] only half completed". Another later letter is from General Sir Peter Duffell - apparently to the original correspondent, thanking him for the gift of a picture of the "famous NBG Sahib" and encouraging him to join one of their dinner clubs in order "pick up again your relations with the Regiment". The remaining printed ephemera comprises press cuttings and a pamphlet and booklet relating to the regiment.
