EA. Aschoff 1814, Imhof 554, Yakushi S 372. Diese von Walther Stötzner (1882-1965) privat finanzierte Expediton (zur botanischen, zoologischen, meteorologischen und geologischen sowie ethnolgischen Erforschung) nach Szechuan und Osttibet dauerte von Januar bis Augsut 1914 und wurde vom Ausbruch des Krieges überrascht. Stötzner tat an der deutschen Botschaft Dienst und konnte erst 1917 nach Deutschland zurückkehren. Seine 72 Kisten Expeditionsmaterial kamen später unversehrt in Hamburg an (vgl. Aschoff).

Die wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse wurden später u.a. von dem Ornithologen Hugo Weigold und dem Botaniker Wolfgang LImpricht separat veröffentlicht. Stötzner konnte erst 1917 n…ach Deutschland zurückkehren. "Seine 72 Kisten mit Expeditionsmaterial kamen später unversehrt in Hamburg an" (Aschoff, Tibet, 1814). - Durchgängig stockfleckig.

Das Buch wurde parallel in einer günstigeren Halbleinenausgabe veröffentlicht, hier die hochwertigere Ausgabe mit illustriertem Prachte…inband. Stötzner (1882 - 1965) war studierter Architekt, begab sich aber auf mehrere Forschungsreisen nach Asien. Hier sein Bericht einer Reise 1913/14 nach China und Tibet, insbesondere in Szetchuan, mit interessanten Informationen zur tibetischen Kultur dort, mit einigen Aufnahmen inzwischen zerstörter Tempel. Teilnehmer der v.a. naturwissenschaftliche forschenden Expeditioan war u.a. auch der Ornithologe Hugo Weigold, welcher später auch bei der ersten Expedition von Brooke Dolan teilnahm, und der Botaniker Wolfgang Limpricht, welcher gleichfalls ein Buch über die Reise verfasst hat, welches allerdings recht selten ist ("Botanische Reisen in den Hochgebirgen Chinas und Ost-Tibets").
