Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fair. No Jacket. This final addition is a beautiful example of a late Victorian "Gift Book." . It is actually the classic The Arabian Nights' Entertainments, arranged by the Hon. Mrs. Sugden (Marianne Sugden) and published by George Routledge and Sons (likely between 1885 and 1895). The Arabian Nights (Victorian Edition) • The Arrangement: Mrs. Sugden was well-known for "arranging" these ancient tales for a Victorian family audience, carefully editing them to be "suitable for the young." This version was a staple of British nursery bookshelves in the late 19th century. • The Illustrations: A.W. Cooper (Alfred W. Cooper) was a prolific Victorian artist. His "coloured plates" in this edition are typically high-quality chromolithographs, known for their vibrant, layered colors that modern printing often struggles to replicate. • Decorative Binding: Blue cover with gold lettering and "flat green block colour" refers to the decorative cloth technique where different colored inks were stamped onto the cloth alongside the gold gilt. This "blocked" style was the height of fashion for publishers in the 1880s. • Slight damage to tye spine and a little spotting inside. Binding starting to come away at the preface page see photos. Alfred W. Cooper (illustratore).…
