Interview with Beth Ame Swartz by Ruth Ann Appelhof. Swartz's work uses rice paper and handmade paper which is apinted and treated in various purposeful ways. The Buried Scroll series are works painted on rice paper and then buried and uneartthed a month later. The Ten Sites series features works related to various sites in Israel, made at those sight on the ground outdoors and ended up incorporating soil from those site. Her work references kabbalah, but is quite abstract even as it makes a physical effort to incorporate it's subjects.
