The lot includes a photo of antique dealer, decorator and 1960s figure Christopher Gibbs and the cult interior decorator Syrie Maugham (in her Chelsea home with 2 other photos of its 'white' interior) The other 5 photos are interior shots of the lavish Chateau de Groussay owned by Carlos de Beistegui, the extremely wealthy interior decorator who had thrown the part of the century in Venice in 1951 at Villa Labia, (which had been photographed by Beaton.) Some of the images are stamped with ÒCecil Beaton photographÒ or else the Harpers Bazaar stamp. Some of the photographs are dated 1955, others undated but look to have been printed in the 50s or 60s. Size varies but the largest photograph is 19.3 x 24.1 cm.Also, a card illustrated with a printed Beaton drawing addressed to Alan Tagg. Tagg was BeatonÕs photographic assistant for a time and a lifelong friend. The card is written by TaggÕs partner Charles and dated 1965. Very good indeed.
