Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Wireless Pictures and Television' is a seminal exploration of the early technologies that enabled the transmission of images and moving pictures across distances without the use of physical wires. Written by T. Thorne Baker, a pioneer in the field of phototelegraphy, this work provides a comprehensive technical and historical overview of the transition from still-picture transmission to the birth of television. The book details the intricate mechanisms of the period, including the development of light-sensitive cells, the synchronization of transmitters and receivers, and the various mechanical scanning systems that preceded modern electronic displays. Baker examines the state of the art in the late 1920s, documenting the experiments and breakthroughs that made it possible to send news photographs across oceans and sparked the global race for a functional television system. This work remains a vital resource for those interested in the history of technology, media studies, and the engineering challenges overcome by early inventors. It serves as a fascinating window into a time when the concept of seeing at a distance was moving from the realm of science fiction into a tangible reality. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
