Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the lives of painters, sculptors, and architects in Bergamo from the 13th to the 18th centuries, providing a glimpse into artistic patronage in Italy during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. While much of this history was lost during frequent battles and occupations of the city and region during its early years, author Francesco Tassis was able to piece together the rich tapestry of artistic activity that flourished in Bergamo thanks to extensive research of the limited surviving historical record. This historical record includes entries from the archives of the Bergamo Cathedral and the Misericordia Maggiore, revealing an artistic lineage spanning two centuries. This book not only provides detailed biographies of individual artists but also offers an engaging commentary on the evolution of artistic style during this period and the influence of larger historical events on the art world of the time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
